Today is February 19, 2010. I started my journey towards a healthier me on February 19, 2007. Has it really been three years?
Three years ago today I quit smoking, and started Weight Watchers. It was the best day of my life.
Three years ago I weighed 208lbs (at 5’2″), had fatty liver disease, pasty sickly skin,I only drank coffee (and lots of it), I could not manage stairs, never played with the kids, sat on my couch all the time I wasn’t sitting at my desk, ate everything “covered and smothered”, always looked for the most food for my dollar, chose restaurants by the portion sizes, hit drive thru’s on the way home to cook dinner, never ate breakfast, planned all gatherings around what food was going to be prepared, and generally was just the most unhealthy woman I’ve ever been.
Three years ago today, I made a choice to change that. Today I am 157 lbs (and that will be going down another ten), my liver is recovered and healthy, my skin is clear and glowing, I drink at least two litres of water a day, I choose the stairs wherever possible, I play in the river with the kids, or walk in the woods (or run), I enjoy my couch time instead of feeling like it’s my only option, I look for the most nutrition for my dollar, I choose restaurants for their portion sizes, but in reverse of the past, if I do a drive through, it’s a meal, with usually the healthiest option they have, and it’s within my caloric budget, I always eat breakfast, I still plan foods for gatherings, but it’s making sure I have a healthy option I can partake in freely, and generally I’m the healthiest woman I’ve ever been.
It’s my Healthiversary!! I celebrated by planning my foods for the day, and continuing my journey towards longevity and focus. Won’t you join me?
